The Park

We pretty spend most of our mornings and afternoons at one of our many parks now that the weather has turned, so chances are you'll be seeing a lot more pictures like these...

Learning to climb stairs without help, like a big boy who uses his arms...

Some very popular girl brought bubbles...

He Might Be Calling YOU. . .

. . .That's 'cause we go down the list of names of possible call recipients every time he picks up an object and pretends it's a phone.

Check out the drool spot on his t-shirt -- that's from molar #4 working its way out.

Computer Geek

In order to peel away Lucas from his favorite websites on our computer so that we can move on to a new activity, we've now begun to play to his imagination and institute the old "The computer is sleeping" strategy. Most of the time it works...

Saying good-bye and thank you to the computer for the nice time we had:

Wait a second here, I don't think I believe you!

Parenting Lesson #539:

Do not take your child to the video store, as his acute tunnel vision will immediately lead him to spot the closest Thomas The Tank Engine DVD (of course, those sneaky strategists placed it as his eye level), he will insist that we play it immediately by pointing and running between the DVD case and the nearest television, and it will take at least 20 minutes and all manner of cajoling ("Look, Lucas: The Bus! A truck! Birds! A dog! Tio!") to get us out of the store without a meltdown...

Buddies

Earlier this week Lucas awoke from his nap to greet some more special visitors traveling to visit us, this time by friends from waaaaaay back in the day when Lucas and Amalia were floating in their cozy water worlds and their big-bellied mommas were trekking around Manhattan and Brooklyn together, and then later during their pre-walking days...

Lucas loved sweet Amalia and enjoyed attempting to give kisses (read: get really close and expect the recipient to meet him halfway) while Amalia chose instead to blow those kisses and then wave goodbye to a smothering Lucas. The two played side by side very nicely, but the mommas were most amazed at how boys will be boys and girls will be girls in their play styles as Lucas growled and threw balls and Amalia sat in a big kid chair and played with her doll. We can't wait for the next playdate!

Sweeping

Welp, Easter came and went, and when there's a pastor in the household, that means we've been spending these past few days after Holy Week recovering little by little... It also means we didn't get the chance to catch any exciting Easter photos of the family to share, but here are some of Lucas after he accosted one of us while sweeping in order to insist that he do the job himself. He eventually figured out that two hands worked better than one; now if only that handle could be a few feet shorter!

Special Visit With Old Friends

Lucas loved his new friends Gina and Greg, who were in NYC on their babymoon and came to
Brooklyn to spend some time with us this past weekend.

Pretend Play

These past few weeks Lucas has loved playing in his crib. He requests to be placed inside where he enjoys dancing to some tune in his head or throws soft toys back and forth with us or just rolls around. Here he is pretending to share his water (from his latest preferred toy) to the giraffe on his pillow. He's also good at feeding water (or whatever he's eating) to Curious George. Nice sharing, Lucas!

Palm Sunday

We wish you could see the focused look on Lucas's face and hear the excited squeals he makes whenever he spots a bus or some sort of large truck (which is every couple of minutes on the many commercial streets of our 'hood). Here are some shots of him in front of our church this morning: first wanting to show you a passing bus, then celebrating the sighting with a jog to the other side before returning again when the next bus came along...
